American rapper and songwriter Gabriel Serrano Aka SURREAL was born on September 25th, 1996 in Salinas, CA. He first Started making music in the 4th grade growing up. He grew up in a family of musical talent such as his older cousins Loon E Lou and Young Joe who both had a big musical presence locally which inspired his older cousin Prota to rap. Prota who was much closer to SURREAL in age had then mentored him in the music game. They spent time with each other quite frequently on a weekly basis and worked on music every time.
Surreal was known to always be the quiet one growing up, but he was always very book smart and a naturally gifted writer. He was known to have quite a dorky personality growing up but he then grew into his swag later on. He always knew he was a leader who had great ideas, but was never confident enough to share them.
Music made him feel like he could step into a different persona and be a version of himself that he couldn’t be if he wasn’t rapping. Somewhat of lan alter ego, It made him feel like he could finally share his ideas with the world and present them in a way that truly resonated with the audience.
He always says “When you’re really book smart, it’s easy to become bland because you’re glued to a desk all the time and lack social interaction”. With that being said, he then made his decision to be a music artist rather than just a professor or motivational speaker because it always him transfer a feeling rather than just feed knowledge.
